Rectal Cancer – the most common type of cancer in the world, has many branches of cancer. One of the most common of these, is Rectal Cancer. The rectum is a part of the first six inches of the large intestine. Rectal Cancer is a malignant tumor, known as a polyp, that grows in the tissue walls of the rectum. Rectal cancer polyps range in size, from the very small, to the very large. As the polyp increases in size, the chance of it becoming cancerous also increases. And though one in every four people develop polyps, most of them never become cancerous.

Some of the most common signs of rectal cancer are: rectal bleeding, unexplained weight loss, constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. In extreme cases, when the rectal cancer becomes large enough to block the colon, extreme abdominal pain and constipation can occur. People are have been diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease, have a high consumption of red meat daily, have a high fiber diet, are obese, or smoke, greatly increase the likelihood of developing rectal cancer. Rectal cancer is also very common in industrialized nations.
