Prostate Cancer
Prostate Cancer is a disease in which malignant cancer cells form in the tissues of the prostate gland. And while Prostate Cancer can be found in all men, it most commonly occurs in men over the age of 60. However, many doctors recommend having a Prostate Cancer screenings beginning at the age of 50 – or 45 for high-risk patients. I.e. Men with two or more first degree of relations with Prostate Cancer, or African American men.
Prostate Cancer is highly treatable when it is diagnosed and caught early. So make sure you consult your doctor after any signs that might make you suspect you have Prostate Cancer. For example, a doctor should be consulted if you experience any of the following: weak or interrupted flow of urine, frequent or difficulty urinating, blood in the urine, pain in the back, hips, or pelvis, or painful ejaculation. This symptoms may indicate that you have Prostate Cancer.
Once diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, you will find there are many types of treatments available for those diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. These treatments include surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy. The extent of these treatments and the chance of success depend on the seriousness of the Prostate Cancer, and what type you have, your age, and the your general health. The better condition you are in when you’re first diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, the better chance you’ll have at a full recovery, as well as a smaller chance of relapses.
