Cancer Myths
Cancer myths can be dangerous to your health. Each myth that you read might give you a sense of false hope, or a false fear. Believing in such myths prevent you from having test and required treatments to detect and cure the cancer. This can lead to a smaller likelihood of treatment, as well as curing your cancer. The following are some of the most common Cancer Myths:
Myth: Cancer is a contagious disease.
Truth: Cancer is not contagious. Cancer can not be transmitted from one person are another. However, keep in mind there are two types of cancer: cervical and liver which are caused by viruses. These two cancers are transmitted through sexual intercourse or infected needles.
Myth: Cancer spreads when exposed to air during surgery.
Truth: Exposure to air will not lead to spreading of cancer. The reality is that when a doctor performs surgery, the doctor may find that the cancer is more widespread that previously thought and this may lead to patient feeling worse.
Myth: Just having a Positive attitude will cure cancer.
Truth: Having a positive attitude can help your quality of life
during the treatment process, but it won’t cure the cancer.
There have been no scientific study that suggests that positive
attitude will affect the outcome of whether or not you are cured
of cancer.
