Brain Cancer

Brain Cancer starts in just one cell of the brain. As the cell copies itself, the Brain Cancer copies as well. The Brain Cancer continues grow to from a tumor. The tumor stays exactly where it starts, but it can grow very large and put pressure on crucial areas of the brain, which can cause harmful side effects.

Primary Brain Cancer starts within brain. Secondary Brain Cancer starts in another organ and the spreads to the brain. Both Brain Cancers are just as deadly as the other, and if left untreated, is fatal.

The only way to be sure of what kind of Brain Cancer tumor is present (whether it’s benign [non cancerous] or cancerous) is to do a biopsy. After a pathologist diagnoses the disease from the tissue samples, treatment for the Brain Cancer can be started. There are about 15-20 Brain Cancer cases per ever 100,000 people in the United States every year. Brain Cancer is also the leading cause of death of patients under 35.

It is very important to have Brain Cancer treatment done right the first time. If Brain Cancer is not taken care of correctly the first time, relapse treatment isn’t as successful. Usually the treatment for Brain Cancer is to have surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy. Each of these treatments has dramatically improved over time, as have the survival rates for patients.
